The Public Relations unit reports that the “Cost and quality management of health services” was held at Milad Hospital on 28th, 29th, 30th of August and 2nd of September 2017. This workshop was managed by the Departments of Health and Education and the topics were covered in two sections of three days and one day by the lecturers from the University of Melbourne: Professor Stephen Duckett and Professor Terri Jackson.
The first part of the workshop, in which forty managers and experts from the treatment and economic sections of the Social Security Organization and insurer companies were participating, was dedicated to the introduction of health system in Canada and Australia, their financing methods, hospital management, cost control methods and mechanisms. The main challenges ahead of these two health systems were also discussed.
One of the characteristics of this workshop was that it included teamwork to diagnose the problems and challenges of Iran health system and coming up with solutions.
In the second part of the workshop which was held on Saturday, 2nd of September, hospital managers, hospital improvement and headquarter experts from Social Security Organization participated and important topics on quality improvement and patient safety were discussed by professor Jackson and Dr. Bohluli, PhD. Graduate of management from Canada.
It is worth mentioning that at the same time, Dr. Duckett had a meeting at Social Security Organization with the senior managers, he took questions and the treatment-related issues and problems of the organization and their solutions were discussed.
